ILA To Endorse New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg For Re-Election at Noon Rally On Friday in Port Newark |

Senator Frank Lautenberg will join members of the International Longshoremen’s Association, AFL-CIO at a noon rally on Friday, May 30 at Berth 25 in Port Newark where the union will formally endorse the New Jersey Senator’s bid for re-election.
“New Jersey and the ILA are blessed to have a man like Senator Frank Lautenberg representing our interest in Congress,” said Jerry Owens, the ILA’s General Organizer and a resident of South Orange, NJ, who will lead the large ILA contingent at the rally. “Whether the issue is port security, the economy or dredging, Senator Frank Lautenberg has always stood side-by-side with the ILA and our employers making certain the Port of New York and New Jersey and the Port of Camden and Philadelphia remain strong and growing.”
The noon rally at Berth 25 in Port Newark will attract many local ILA and labor leaders from New Jersey and throughout the Metropolitan area as well as New Jersey State Senator Thomas Giblin. There the ILA will formally endorse the candidacy of Senator Lautenberg, who has represented New Jersey for 24 of the past 26 years. Prior to the rally, a pre-lunch reception will be held in the FAPS Village Showroom, Building 371 at 371 Craneway in Port Newark.
“On Friday, we will not just be endorsing Senator Frank Lautenberg for re-election,” said Tom Leonardis, President of ILA Local 1235 in Port Newark. “We will begin mapping out strategies to get all our members and their families involved in Senator Lautenberg’s campaign.”
Joining Mr. Owens and Mr. Leonardis from the leadership of the ILA includes Stephen Knott, president of the ILA’s Atlantic Coast District and ILA Local 1; Vincent Cuozzo, Nuzio LaGrasso and John Cuozzo of ILA Local 1478-2; Herbert Hall and Ronnie Taylor of ILA Local 1233 and Michael Vigneron of ILA Local 1804-1. A large delegation of New Jersey ILA members are also expected to attended.
